“Embark on a cozy, time-bending journey as Granpa, using music to traverse shifting memories and search for Grandma in a heartfelt quest."

“Granpa” is a cozy platformer developed as part of a master’s program in Indie Game Development at Falmouth University. Players step into the role of an elderly protagonist who suffers from dementia, experiencing time slips that transport him into past versions of himself while traversing his memories. By tuning different music channels, Granpa alters his environment, allowing him to overcome obstacles through these temporal shifts. Developed in consultation with dementia specialists, the game’s world visually reflects the condition—letters jumble, and reality momentarily distorts—offering a poignant representation of Granpa’s struggle. As players explore his house of memories, piecing together moments of his life in search of Grandma, they gain a deeper understanding of his story and the profound effects of dementia.
